Coordinated colour scheme and flexible furnishings
The colour and material concept is based on three elements: the visible material of the
original design (wood), a neutral colour (white) and an accent colour (blue) that echoes
the town’s coat of arms. The custom-designed tables for the council members can be
rearranged as needed to accommodate different seating configurations resulting from
the political groups in office. Made of white matte-lacquered aluminium with fitted
fronts, tabletops and service blocks for technical connections with various media, the
tables are easily adaptable for maintenance or replacement. This ensures a high level
of sustainability. Together with the EA 108 chair by Charles and Ray Eames, upholstered
in blue Hopsack fabric by Vitra, the furniture reinforces the colour scheme. The modular
president’s table is equipped with retractable monitors set into the tabletop. All tables
are mobile and can be dismantled quickly to allow alternative uses of the space. A media
wall behind the president’s table provides a neutral white backdrop to the floor-to-ceiling
wooden wall panelling made of stained pine, which has been installed throughout the
entire room. This cladding integrates updated and newly installed technical features,
including a sound system with beam-steering technology, high-resolution 98-inch retrac-
table monitors and the equipment for live broadcasts. For hearing-impaired individuals,
an audio transmission system with wireless receivers compatible with headphones or
personal hearing aids is available. The council chamber’s original design, conceived as
a holistic work of art, remains visible after the renovation, now enriched by a bright,
modern layer of time with new interior elements. Grundriss • Floor plan
