SPARKASSE ALLGÄU
IN KEMPTEN
The new Sparkasse building by Auer Weber Architekten

makes a valuable contribution to the reorganization of

decessor building from the 1970s, it combines two listed

buildings and offers employees and customers pleasantly
open, bright rooms - ranging between subtlety and functio-

side into the interior, while the valuables compartments exude a cosy liv-
ing room atmosphere. The upper three floors are reserved for workplaces

plan cell offices here, but a visit to our savings bank branch in Tübingen

Managing Director of Auer Weber. The architects have provided 210 work-
places in open-space areas, 30 workstations in offices, six internal meet-
ing rooms and 12 areas for informal sessions. What they all have in com-
mon is a pleasant, transparent atmosphere with a high design quality.
The materials wood and glass, terrazzo and light carpeted areas interact
with smooth white walls and ceilings. The Allgäu local touch is ensured
by walls planked with old wood and designed by artist Konrad Winter,

regional reference to the location, as well as sound-absorbing glass sys-
tem partitions designed by artist Brigitte Waldach from Berlin. In alterna-
tion with sideboards and floor-to-ceiling cabinets, these ensure acoustic
separation and visual openness. Great importance was attached to the
perceptibility of exterior spaces: the vertically structured façade with
varying depths and the post-and-beam façade facing the inner courtyard
literally bring the greenery of the surrounding nature into the interior. The
sophisticated lighting system supports the successful interplay of artificial
