unangetastet. Die Wände erhielten lediglich ein Make-up in natürlichen Schattierungen.
Entschleunigung strahlt die Aesthetic Skin & Laser Clinic aus. Das Ambiente bestimmen
wertige, natürliche Materialien: Holz, Naturstein, Leinen, Metall-Finishs ... Schönheit wird
hier durch archaisch anmutende Raumelemente ritualisiert und zelebriert, durch simp-
le, aber edle Wasserschalen und -tröge und senkrecht an der Decke montierte, lange,
schlanke Wasserrohre. Wie ein Altar wirkt die Arbeitsinsel zur Zubereitung der kunden-
individuellen Kosmetik. Die an antike Thermen erinnernden Rundbögen sind mit einem
hinterleuchteten Geflecht aus Schilfrohr bespannt, das man aus einem anderen Kontext
kennt, nämlich als Sitz- und Rückenfläche von Bugholzklassikern.

H aving gathered years of experience in the industry, Laura and Jenny Alonso knew
exactly what they wanted: They envisioned their beauty salon in Melbourne’s
Coburg district to offer their customers a retreat with a warm, discreet, welcoming atmo-
sphere, a tranquil place to relax body and mind, a place of ultimate self-care. The com-
missioned interior designer Joanne Motee and her multidisciplinary team listened care-
fully and translated the wishes of the mother-daughter duo into spaces and a matching
brand identity. The interior design reflects the human ideal of timeless beauty, clarity
and purity. The listed Victorian building remained untouched. The walls were merely
given a makeover in natural shades. The Aesthetic Skin & Laser Clinic radiates decele-
ration. The ambiance is defined by high-quality, natural materials: wood, natural stone,
linen, metal finishes... Here, beauty is ritualised and celebrated through archaic-looking
room elements, through simple but elegant water bowls and troughs, combined with
long, slender water pipes vertically mounted on the ceiling. The work island used for
preparing customer-specific cosmetics resembles an altar. The arches, reminiscent of
ancient thermal baths, are covered with a backlit weave of reeds, which is well-known
from a different context, namely as a seat and backrest of bentwood classics.
