RAMBOLL & HENNING
LARSEN IN MUNICH
South of the Munich city centre, in Obersendling, the
Fabrik Office industrial building was recently inaugura-
ted. Ramboll Group and Henning Larsen Architects have
moved into a shared office on the 4th and 5th floors.
Architects, engineers and consultants will now work
there in close collaboration. An open working environ-
ment supports the interdisciplinary approach.
M unich-based Oliv Architects have once again managed to attract
attention with one of their industrial buildings: the new Fabrik
Office located in Obersendling. The architectural firm is already jointly
responsible for several other projects that have shaped the city, including
the recent revitalization of the New Ganghofer office complex in Westend
and the construction of Munich’s first hybrid timber office building, TRI.
The Fabrik Office multi-tenant office building, inaugurated in 2024, is
characterized by a complex cubature and a façade designed with dark-

have moved in with a shared office. Henning Larsen has been part of the
Ramboll Group since 2019. This means that Denmark’s largest consulting
group has acquired one of Denmark’s largest architectural firms. At the
Munich location, everyone who is working in one of the two firms now
benefits from improved opportunities for cross-departmental collaborati-
on. Henning Larsen took on the design of the office space, which covers
around 3,400 square metres and two floors. A versatile office structure
was created on the 4th floor. Lushly planted shelves and built-in furniture
divide the office units into zones, each with two to six workstations, along
the window fronts, while meeting rooms, team areas and connecting
paths combine to form an open communication platform in the central
zone. One floor higher are the canteen, lounge areas, workshop rooms
and a table football- and yoga room. Two large, green terraces on different
levels offer additional space for interaction – with a great view of the Alps
included. Acoustics play an important role in the open-plan layout. Acou-
stic panels, lots of curtain fabric and multifunctional partition walls speci-
fically reduce disturbing background noise. When selecting materials, the
focus was on creating a cosy aesthetic while also being environmentally
responsible. The linoleum flooring contains no petroleum additives, the
carpets are made from recycled marine plastic and the table tops are
made from old textiles. The furniture and ceilings were made from waste
wood – European maritime pine – and most of the fixtures are made from
