                                                                                Having entered M.A.D. Collectif Studio’s new agen-
                                                                                cy space, one imagines oneself in a cool bar! Quite
                                                                                intentional: More creative togetherness, more flexible
                                                                                space for the exchange of ideas should emerge after
                                                                                the renovation. Ivy Studio has implemented this with
                                                                                a large amount of finesse in a tube-like, poorly lit floor
                                                                                plan – the result is bright rooms with hosting qualities.

                                                                                team’s ingenious trick for making the space usable and attractive for
                                                                                its new purpose was to divide the elongated rectangular floor plan into
                                                                                three parts. The front third, which is naturally lit, is now occupied by
                                                                                the café that has an imposing, six-metre-long, monolithic marble coun-
                                                                                ter. During the day, it serves as a kitchen for the staff whereas, in the
                                                                                evening, it functions as a bar for events, complemented by a bench run-
                                                                                ning along all the walls around it. The inserted staircase block, which
                                                                                is now mirrored, screens an open lounge for photo shoots and video
                                                                                presentations. The entire area is lower than the rest of the room and
                                                                                is tiled in white up to a height of 1.20 metres. The remaining wall sur-
                                                                                face consists of backlit polycarbonate panels that immerse the room
                                                                                sequence in a pleasant soft light. The second room segment – accessed
                                                                                via a narrow, five-metre-long ramp – is reserved for concentrated work.
                                                                                Closed offices, meeting rooms and sanitary facilities are located in the
                                                                                rear part of the room and are acoustically separated by polycarbonate
                                                                                stud walls that are insulated with pink glass fibre. Walls, ceilings and
                                                                                piping were merely painted white whereas the metal doors and frames
                                                                                remained unpainted – the unfinished, imperfect and raw effect contrasts
                                                                                attractively with the soft and plush appearance of the lilac and orange
                                                                                furniture. Linearly arranged, flexible luminaires manage to create dif-
                                                                                ferent lighting moods and set an unconventional aesthetic in the right
