„Offen wie der Himmel, weit wie das Meer.“ Für ihre Wandmalerei

in den Besprechungsräumen der Wiener Kanzlei Jank Weiler Op-

erenyi Rechtsanwälte ließ sich die 1969 in Frankreich geborene und

heute in Österreich lebende Künstlerin Barbara Vörös vom buddhis-

tischen Aphorismus des Amerikaners Jack Kornfield inspirieren. Bei

der Begehung der Dachgeschossräume im Frühjahr mit Architektin

Julia Brandner (www.nias.at) riefen die großzügige Dachverglasung

mit Blickin den Himmel und die geschlossenen Wände in ihr räum-

liche Assoziationen mit dem Bauch eines großen Schiffes hervor.

Nun fehlte also nur noch der Ausblick in die Weite des Meeres! So

kam Vörös die Idee fünf abstrahierter Meerestiere, die – verteilt auf

fünf Büros – jedem Raum einzeln Charakter und Identität verleihen:

vom Walhai – groß und beeindruckend – über den Mantarochen –

taktisch und wendig – bis zum Löwenfisch – erhaben und elegant.

“Open like the sky, vast as the ocean.” For murals in the rooms of

the Viennese Jank Weiler Operenyi Rechtsanwälte law office, the

artist Barbara Vörös was inspired by Jack Kornfield’s Buddhist

aphorism. When inspecting the attic with the architect Julia Brand-

ner (www.nias.at) in spring, the spacious roof glazing with a view
of the sky and the closed walls awakened in her associations with

a ship’s belly. So now only the view of the vastness of the ocean

was missing! This gave Vörös the idea for five abstract marine an-

imals who, allocated to five offices, give each room an individual

identity. From a whale shark – huge and impressive – to a manta

ray – tactical and agile – to a lion fish – sublime and elegant.
