D ie Schaufensterfassade des ehemaligen Ladenlokals in der Passage Piver war über
Jahre hinweg mit Brettern verschlossen und leistete sicherlich keinen optischen Bei-
trag für die verkehrsberuhigte Stichstraße im 11. Pariser Arrondissement. Dass sich hinter
der unansehnlichen Schicht heruntergekommene, aber großzügig geschnittene Räume
befanden, die es nur zu reanimieren galt, kam einer jungen, engagierten Filmprodukti-
onsfirma sehr entgegen. Das geringe Budget war für den italienischen Architekten Nicola
Spinetto eher Herausforderung und Motivation als Problem. Er setzte auf den Reiz der
Gegensätze: Die Oberflächen von Wänden und Stützen wurden – bis auf den Küchenbe-
reich – im trashigen Urzustand belassen, dazu passt die auf Putz verlegte Elektroinstalla-
tion. Die Bodenbeläge, geschliffener Estrich und rostroter Teppichboden, sowie die leich-
ten, transparenten Trennwände aus einer Holz-/Glaskonstruktion und die eingestellte Sa-
nitärbox aus rot gestrichenen Zementverbundplatten stehen im wohltuenden Kontrast
zur charmanten Unperfektheit des Bestandes. Unterteilt ist die Fläche in vier abgeschlos-
sene Büros, einen offenen Arbeitsbereich sowie eine rückwärtige Ruhezone. Die geräu-
mige Küche wurde in einem Bereich des Nachbargebäudes untergebracht. Zur Straße öff-
nen sich die Räume mit neuen Fenstern aus rostroten Metallprofilen und einer Kombi-
nation aus Klar- und Drahtglas als schmucke Ergänzung zur hellgrauen Putzfassade.

F or many years, the showcase façade of the former store in Passage Piver had been
boarded up and certainly did not visually contribute in a positive way to the traffic-

calmed cul-de-sac in the 11 arrondissement of Paris. That, behind the unsightly layer,
run-down but spacious premises were hiding that only had to be revived, however, very
much suited the young, committed film-production company. The low budget was more
of a challenge and a motivation than a problem for the Italian architect Nicola Spinetto.
He went for the appeal of contrasts: With the exception of the kitchen area, the surfaces
of the walls and the supports were left in their trashy condition and the surface-mounted
electrical installation matches this. The floor coverings, polished screed and rust-red car-
peting, as well as the light-weight, transparent partitions consisting of a wood/glass con-
struction and the added sanitary box of red-painted cement composite panels are a plea-
sant contrast to the charming imperfection of the building stock. The area is subdivided
into four enclosed offices, an open work area as well as a rest area at the back. The spa-
cious kitchen was moved into the neighbouring building. Towards the street, the rooms
open with new windows with rust-red metal profiles and a combination of clear- and
wired glass as a decorative complement to the light-grey plaster façade.
