BÜROGEBÄUDE V&B IN METTLACH
mit Teppichboden von Object Carpet
with carpet flooring by Object Carpet
Entwurf • Design Bochem Schmidt Architekten, Merzig (Architektur); Triad, Berlin (Innenarchitektur)
Boch korrespondiert.

S ince 1809, Villeroy & Boch has had its headquarters in the Old Abbey
in Mettlach in Saarland. As part of the Mettlach 2.0 site development
to create more attractiveness for employees, customers and guests, the
60,000 square metre monastery area is being newly structured. One of
the components is the Factory N°09 office- and conference centre. In the
former “Tischkulturfabrik”, the ceramics manufacturer promises its
employees suitable workstations for any activities they engage in. There is
room for three zones – market place, networking and working – on the
more than 4,000 square metres. The core of the working world designed
by the architects Bochem Schmidt together with the Berlin Triad creative
agency is an oak staircase which forms a link between all the three levels
and, as a “market place”, promotes the exchange among colleagues from
all the different departments. In this highly frequented area, a total of
2,500 square metres of carpet flooring from Object Carpet is to ensure
improved acoustics. As the design, the classic-elegant Rome pattern from
the Freestile Collection was chosen which goes extremely well with the
selectively installed ceramic tiles showing historic patterns supplied by
Villeroy & Boch. To increase the sound-absorbing effect of the textile floo-
ring, the timeless design was printed onto the matte Contract 1000 velour
