T ee ist in der chinesischen Kultur mehr als nur ein Heißgetränk. Er ist ein fester Iden-
titätsbestandteil und wird als Freund betrachtet, der die Gesellschaft im Alltag und
in authentischen Zeremonien zusammenbringt. Eine Verbindung zwischen Tradition und
Moderne streben auch Chasing Wang und Kung Wang von Nongstudio an. Sie gestalten
die 50 Quadratmeter große Fläche der Boutique in einem prominent gelegenen Kauf-
haus Shanghais mit viel Symbolik und Naturmetaphern. Inspiriert von den Hängen des
Teeanbaus staffeln sich die an Bambusstäbe erinnernden, handgefertigten Wandfliesen
von einem saftigen Grün am Boden zu einem leichten Hellblau unter der Decke und ver-
bildlichen so das Verschmelzen von Erde und Himmel. In der Farbgebung setzt sich die
starke symbolische Bedeutung fort. So leitet sich das Grün von dem der Blätter ab, die in
endlosen Wellen bergiger Landschaften wachsen und auf ihre Ernte warten. Das Himmel-
blau entspringt klassischer, chinesischer Ru-Keramik. Die Präsentation der Produkte und
Köstlichkeiten ist ebenfalls an die Topografie der Anbaugebiete angelehnt. Hierbei sollen
verspiegelte Oberflächen Regen in den Hängen imitieren. Als Insel mittig platziert und mit
einer Metall-Mesh-Markise akzentuiert, steht ein Tresen aus dunkel marmoriertem Stein
ergänzend zu den Naturmetaphern. So entsteht das romantische Bild eines idyllischen
Teepavillons, versteckt zwischen den mystischen Terrassen wolkenverhangener Berge.
T ea is more than just a hot drink in Chinese culture. It is an integral part of identity
and is seen as a friend that brings society together in everyday life and in authentic
ceremonies. Chasing Wang and Kung Wang from Nongstudio also endeavour to create a
link between tradition and modernity. They designed the 50-square-metre space of the
boutique in a prominently located department store in Shanghai with a lot of symbolism
and nature metaphors. Inspired by the slopes of tea cultivation, the handmade wall tiles,
reminiscent of bamboo sticks, are graduated from a lush green on the floor to a light blue
under the ceiling, symbolising the fusion of earth and sky. The strong symbolic meaning is
continued in the colour scheme. The green is inspired by the leaves that grow in endless
waves in mountainous landscapes, waiting to be harvested. The sky blue colour origina-
tes from classic Chinese Ru ceramics. The presentation of the products and delicacies is
likewise inspired by the topography of the cultivation areas. Mirrored surfaces are inten-
ded to imitate rain on the slopes. Placed in the centre as an island and accentuated with
a metal mesh awning, a counter made of dark marbled stone complements the natural
metaphors. This creates the romantic image of an idyllic tea pavilion, hidden between the
mystical terraces of cloud-covered mountains.
