Im Phoenix Central Park manifestiert sich die Vision der australischen Kunstmäzenin
Judith Neilson, Architektur und Kunst zu vereinen. Und tatsächlich ist die mit schmalen
Backsteinriemchen verkleidete Bauplastik nicht nur ein Kunst-, sondern auch ein
Gemeinschaftswerk: John Wardle Architects entwarfen die Kunstgalerie (rechts
oben/unten) – eine Choreografie aus Volumen, Licht, Material und Blickbeziehungen.
Durbach Block Jaggers konzipierten den Performance Space (links oben) als glocken-
förmiges Volumen mit einem Mantel aus Holzriemen. Doppelt ausdrucksstark!

The vision of the Australian arts philanthropist Judith Neilson – to combine architec-
ture and art – becomes manifest in Phoenix Central Park of Sydney. The architectural
sculpture clad with narrow brick strips is actually not only a work of art but also one
of cooperation: John Wardle Architects designed the art gallery (top/bottom right) –
a choreography consisting of volume, light, materials and fascinating vistas. Durbach
Block Jaggers planned the performance space (top left) as a bell-shaped volume
