Kontrastreich: Polierter Stahl und Backstein • Rich in contrast: polished steel and brick

M it kontrastierendem Materialeinsatz zur bestehenden Backstein -
fas sade macht die zw eite Niederlassung des Mode labels Acne Stu -
dios in Manhattan auf sich aufmerksam. Nach einer ersten Zusam men -
arbeit für den Flagship Store in Seoul entwarf die Archi tektin Sophie
Hicks im kreativen Stadtviertel Greenwich Vil lage ein weiteres Mode ge -
schäft für die Marke. Die tief ins Grundstück reichenden und daher
dunk len Räum lichkeiten erforderten ein aufhellendes Innen raum kon -
zept, das für die modischen Kol lektionen von Acne Stu dios einen unauf-
geregten Rah men bildet. Der po lierte Beton boden und die raumstruktu-
rierenden Aus stellungs ele mente aus rost freiem Stahl werden von einge-
schobenen Leucht wän den reprä sen tativ in Szene ge setzt und lassen den
Raum über flächige Leuch ten an ord nungen großzügiger er scheinen. Um
den Instal la tionsraum der Beleuchtung so schmal wie möglich zu halten,
wurden die Leucht module von Cool edge hinter den transluzenten Glas -
flächen angebracht. Auf einem quadratischen Trä ger ma ter ial mit einer
Seitenlänge von etwa 300 Millimetern sind LEDs in regelmäßig kurzen
Abständen eingelassen. Die einzelnen Leucht qua drate werden mit einfa-
chen Druck knöpfen verbunden und können durch manu elles Zu schnei -
den von Aus spar ungen so wie Ab rund ungen auf der In stal la tions ebene
flexibel angepasst wer den. Die geringe Wärme ent wicklung und die mini-
malen Auf baumaße der Leuchten, von 50 Milli me tern, zu den matten
Glas ober flä chen sprechen für ihren Ein satz auf engstem Raum. m s

second branch of the Acne Studios fashion label in Manhattan
catches people’s attention. Following a first collaboration for the flag-
ship store in Seoul, architect Sophie Hicks now designed another
fashion store for the brand in the creative Greenwich Village district.
Since the rooms reaching deep into the site are rather dark, they requi-
red a brightening interior design concept, which provides a stimulating
framework for the trendy collections by Acne Studios. The polished
concrete floor and the display elements structuring the rooms, which
are made of stainless steel, are prestigiously stage by means of inser-
ted luminous walls and give the room a generous appearance with
extensively arranged luminaires. To keep the installation space of the
lighting fixtures as narrow as possible, the lighting modules by
Cooledge were installed behind translucent glass panes. LEDs are
recessed at regular, short intervals on a square support material with
a side length of about 300 millimetres. The single lighting squares are
connected with simple push-buttons and can be flexibly adapted to
the installation level by manually cut notches and curves. The low
