                                                                                    A   fter the creative and life partners Ana Milena Hernández Palacios
                                                                                        and Christophe Penasse immediately fell in love with the traditio-
                                                                                    nal manor house built in 1925 on the outskirts of Valencia, everything
                                                                                    happened very quickly and the search for a suitable property was for-
                                                                                    tunately over: “The house had everything – a beautiful setting, the right
                                                                                    size to live upstairs and work downstairs, lots of light and the typical fea-
                                                                                    tures of an old Valencian villa,” recalls the founding duo of the Spanish
                                                                                    studio. “Our aim was to preserve the essence of this historic character
                                                                                    and respect the beauty of its past.” Cement tiled floors, ornate wooden
                                                                                    doors, ceilings and decorative brick walls were therefore retained and
                                                                                    complemented by an extravagant vocabulary of colours and shapes with
                                                                                    the use of curtains in different colours to add a touch of warmth to
                                                                                    the space. While the design measures on the ground floor still respond
                                                                                    subtly to the existing substance, the interior designer‘s signature style is
                                                                                    clearer in the living area on the upper floor: a play of square, triangular

                                                                                    talism, which is reinvented in the contrasting mixture of colours, mate-
                                                                                    rials, textures and shapes. This is most evident in the bedroom, where
                                                                                    the bright yellow-green bed with its oversized, spherical headboard is
                                                                                    both an eye-catcher and a refuge: “This dome offers us the opportunity
                                                                                    to switch off completely at the end of the day. It was designed by our
                                                                                    studio and manufactured using a 3D robot.” The counterpart to this
                                                                                    is a semi-circular, red seating- and reading area, which was furnished
                                                                                    with pastel-coloured furniture from Mas Creations’ own collection. The
                                                                                    explosion of colours and shapes can also be felt in the kitchen and
                                                                                    living room. Delicate blue-green meets expressive yellow, bright pink
                                                                                    and dark fir green, round seating surfaces meet angular furniture sculp-
                                                                                    tures and hard, cool materials such as aluminium, marble and mirrors
                                                                                    meet warm, room-high textile curtains. The new domicile thus manifests
                                                                                    Masquespacio’s philosophy down to even the smallest detail: “The pro-
                                                                                    ject represents our development as well as our artistic style: from our
