Das Gyre Building in Tokio beherbergt neben Modegeschäften und
Designläden auch eine kleine öffentliche Kunsthalle. Die sogenannte
Gyre Gallery entstand nach Plänen des Züricher Architekten Thomas
Hildebrand in Kooperation mit dem japanischen Architekten Yuichi
Kodai. Bewegliche Wände machen die vier Galerieräume in unter-
schiedlichsten Konstellationen nutzbar. Das Highlight ist ein Tages-
lichtraum, der die umgebende Stadt zum Teil der jeweiligen Ausstel-
lung werden lässt. Thomas Hildebrand stellt uns die Umsetzung vor.
The Gyre Building in Tokyo accommodates fashion and design
shops as well as a small public art gallery. The Gyre Gallery was
built according to plans developed by the Zurich-based architect
Thomas Hildebrand in collaboration with the Japanese architect
Yuichi Kodai. Movable walls allow the four gallery rooms to be
used in the most diverse constellations. The highlight is a daylight
room that makes the surrounding city part of the respective exhi-
bition. Thomas Hildebrand describes the underlying concept.
