C&P HEADQUARTERS
IN GRAZ
Translating a brand into architecture is a challenge for
designers. That is because abstract concepts such as
corporate philosophy and company values can rarely
be translated 1:1 into a three-dimensional structure.
The Graz Innocad architectural office, however, proves
with its holistic concept that built brand identity is not
only possible but can also be downright functional.
I t no doubt takes a bit of courage but, above all, quite a large amount
of creative vision to use a company logo as the base for the architec-
ture of an office building. Yet the designers from Innocad do not shy
away from such unconventional approaches and, with this unusual
concept, designed unique company headquarters – including plans for

shape of the logo of the Graz C&P real-estate company became a cube
that – analogous to the logo – is traversed by an extruded curved line.
This gesture, which can be noticed in the layout as well as in the sec-
tion, already starts in the surrounding grounds, then runs in the build-
ing from one corner to the opposite side and penetrates it along its com-
plete height. But this caesura is not a merely an element of decoration
but becomes a connecting atrium across all seven levels. The name of
the construction as well, Cubend, is generated from the resulting
appearance and, at the same time, reflects the values of the company:
It is a symbiosis of the word “cube”, a symbol of wholeness and consis-
tency, and “bend” meaning curve, a concept which stands for move-
ment and dynamics. In the interior, which is based on a grid measuring
1.3 by 1.3 metres, Innocad designed an office landscape which meets all
the demands of contemporary working. Connected by the atrium as a
vertical communication space, the office areas are positioned from the
first to the fifth storey and cleverly reflect the internal structures of the

company. On the second storey, a customer centre was also added for
welcoming visitors and also providing room for individual meetings.
While the classic work zones are mainly arranged along the east and
west façades, the areas oriented towards the atrium provide a multi-
tude of places for encounters and exchanges of information. On the top
level, there is also the so-called Event Space, an event room with a roof
garden right next to it. On the one hand, this was conceived as a meet-
ing place for clients and partners; on the other, it serves the employee
on an everyday basis as a room they jointly use and where they find
