An einen mit weichen Kissen gefüllten Korb, in den man
sich sinken lassen kann, möchten die Designer von Doshi
Levien mit Shaal erinnern. Das modulare Sofa ist von
einer mit Stoff bezogenen Holzschale umschlossen, die
die üppigen Polster über dem Boden scheinbar zum
Schweben bringt. Der Bezug der äußeren Schale und der
Kissen ist sowohl passend als auch mit unterschiedlichen
Materialien, in speziell entwickelten Kombinationen kon-
figurierbar. Um den Lebenszyklus des Möbels und dessen
Einsatzfelder zu erweitern, sind die Kissenbezüge außer-
dem abziehbar und die Sofakomponenten zwecks Wie-
derverwertung oder Recycling einfach zerlegbar.
With Shaal, the designers from Doshi Levien want to re-
mind of a basket filled with soft cushions into which
one can let oneself sink. The modular sofa is surroun-
ded by a wooden shell covered with fabric which appe-
ars to make the lush upholstery float above the floor.
The covers of the exterior shell and the cushions can be
composed as matching as well as of different materials
in specifically developed combinations. To expand the
life cycle of the piece of furniture and its areas of use,
the cushion covers can furthermore be removed and
the components of the sofa can be easily dismantled
for being reuse again or being recycling.
