Offiziell hatte der desolate Zweckbau bereits ausgedient, doch
nach jahrzehntelangem Leerstand entschied sich der Eigentümer
noch für eine Umnutzung: Durch helle Holzeinbauten, mehr Licht
von oben und eine neue Feuerstelle konnte das Team um Henri-
que Barros-Gomes den alten Granitofen wieder mit Wärme füllen.
Jetzt gilt das Ferienhaus in der schwer erreichbaren Provinz Pena-
macor als Vorzeigeprojekt der Lissaboner Architekten, deren Kern-
kompetenz eigentlich urbane Großstadtlofts sind.

The desolate functional building had already been disused yet,
after decades of being vacant, the owner ended up deciding in fa-
vour of a conversion: With bright timber fittings, more light from
above and a new fireplace, the team around Henrique Barros-
Gomes managed to fill the old granite oven with warmth once
more. Now the holiday home in the difficult to access province of
Penamacor is seen as a model project of the Lisbon architects
whose core competence are actually city lofts.
