TREHS HAUS BOUTIQUE
IN SARNTAL
Entwurf • Design pedevilla architects, IT-Bruneck

B ad Schörgau hat seit Jahrhunderten Tradition als Bauernbad. 1689 wurden
Badstuben, Heilquelle und Gaststube erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Heute erwartet
B ad Schörgau has a centuries-old tradition as a farmers’ bath and was first mention
in documents in 1689. Today, the 4-star Bad Schörgau Gourmet and Spa Hotel
awaits its guests here – in the Sarn Valley, about 18 kilometres north of Bolzano. In 2017,
pedevilla architects upgraded the evolved ensemble with a new bathing house, a cooking
academy including a seminar room, and a boutique for natural cosmetics made from
Sarner mountain pine, the so-called Trehs Haus. According to legend, Trehs was a local
herb fairy who was very familiar with the powers of plants. pedevilla architects take up
the traditional building method using local wood and stone with a contemporary inter-
pretation. The boutique was integrated into the historic bathing house. Decorative ele-
ments, shutters, and the monk shingles of the outer shell were preserved or reconstruc-
ted. The two-storey interior, by contrast, was completely redesigned. Spruce and hemp
lend the shop its pleasant, sensual and calm atmosphere. Visitors should "smell, see
and, above all, feel" the relationship between nature and cosmetics. The simple but
effective ornamentation of the wooden walls and ceilings, that is inspired by tradition, is
a distinctive feature of the room. The annexe used for the cooking academy is also cha-
racterised by wooden ornaments - not only inside, but also on the façade.
