K leine Veränderungen mit großer Wirkung! Die Niederlassung der HNO-Ärztin Dr. Co-
rinna Mayr beweist, dass simple Eingriffe den Charakter eines Ortes grundlegend
bereichern können. Im Ort Neusäß am Rand von Augsburg galt es für 12:43 eine in die
Jahre gekommene Zahnarztpraxis zu renovieren und in einen Ort für Hals-Nasen-Ohren-
heilkunde zu verwandeln. Die das Projekt leitende Innenarchitektin Maike Eisenhardt
ließ sich dabei vom Art Deco-Stil der 1920er-Jahre inspirieren. Dazu mussten abgenutzte
Teppiche und schwere Einbauten aus Eichenholz einem frischen Farbkonzept, einem of-
fenen Eingangsbereich mit freistehendem Empfangstresen sowie hellem Bodenbelag in
Fischgrät-Verlegung weichen; einzig die Struktur des Grundrisses erinnert noch an den
Bestand. Als wiederkehrendes Gestaltungsmotiv leiten Staketen mit Details aus Messing
durch die Räume. Ihre unterschiedliche Höhenanordnung sorgt für Dynamik und Span-
nung. Als Konsequenz des gestalterischen roten Fadens sind die Grifffugen der Einbau-
ten mit Messingintarsien verziert. Die vormals dunkelbraunen Türen erhielten einen
schwarz-matten Anstrich sowie moderne Beschläge. Ergänzt wird das zeitgemäße Raum-
konzept durch eine opulente Sitzlounge mit Samtbezug und eine filigrane, eigens für das
Projekt entwickelte Grafik, die sich im Corporate Design der Praxis widerspiegelt. In den
Behandlungszimmern reichte eine schlichte Aufarbeitung bestehender Strukturen aus.

S mall changes, great effect! The office of the ENT physician Dr Corinna Mayr proves
that simple interventions can fundamentally enhance the character of a place. In the
town of Neusäss just outside of Augsburg, 12:43 were to refurbish an outdated dental
practice and turn it into a venue for otorhinolaryngology. The interior designer Maike Ei-
senhardt who was in charge of the project took her inspiration from the Art Deco style of
the 1920. For this purpose, the worn carpets and the heavy oak installations had to give
way to a fresh colour concept, an open entrance area with a free-standing reception
counter as well as a bright flooring in a herringbone pattern; only the structure of the lay-
out still reminds of the building stock. As a recurring motif, palings with brass details
guide through the rooms. Their arrangement at different heights produces dynamism and
tension. Consistent with this design feature, the handle grooves of the installations are
decorated with brass inlays. The formerly dark-brown doors were given a matte black
coat of paint as well as modern fittings. The contemporary room concept is complemen-
ted with an opulent seating lounge with velvet covers and a filigree graphic specifically
developed for the project which is reflected in the corporate design of the practice. In the
treatment rooms, the subtle refurbishment of existing structures was sufficient.
