3. Preis: Das Grundstück bietet die Möglichkeit, mit dem Haus der Architektur der
Kulturmeile einen gebührenden Abschluss zu geben und die vielen losen Wege-
verbindungen geordnet in einem Gebäude zusammenlaufen zu lassen. Das Konzept
des Entwurfs lebt von dem Verständnis der Lage als Endpunkt und Abschluss der Kul-
turmeile. Die Bewegungsmuster innerhalb des Gebäudes wiederholen sich in jedem
Geschoss. Im unteren Eingangsgeschoss (E00) bildet der Sanitärkern ein raumbilden-
des Element, um welches man sich kreisförmig bewegt. Im oberen Eingangsgeschoss
(E01) beziehungsweise dem Modellraum bildet das Modell das Element, um das
sich die BesucherInnen wiederum kreisförmig bewegen. Im nutzungswechselnden
Geschoss (E02) übernimmt das Lager diese Rolle, und im letzten Geschoss (E03),
der Direktorenwohnung, ist der Sanitärkern raumbildend für die gesamte Wohnung.
Nun hat man sich nicht nur kreisförmig innerhalb jedes Geschosses bewegt, sondern
zugleich um den mittig liegenden Aufzug herum durch das gesamte Gebäude. je
Juryurteil: „Der Split-Level-Ansatz ist eine richtige Antwortet auf die topografischen
und baulichen Rahmenbedingungen. Die Gedanken zu den flexibel nutzbaren Direk-

loose routes in an orderly manner in one single building. The concept of the design thrives
on the understanding of the location as the end point and conclusion of the cultural mile.
The movement patterns within the building are cleverly repeated on each floor in an
unusual way hardly ever found in any museum. On the lower entrance floor (E00), the
sanitary core forms a space-defining element around which visitors are quite naturally led
to move in a circle. On the upper entrance floor (E01), or the model room, the model forms
the element around which one again cannot help but move in a circle. On the floor with Perspektiv-Schnitt • Perspective section
changing uses (E02), the storage area takes on this role, and on the top floor (E03), the
director’s apartment, the sanitary core once again defines the space for the entire apart-
ment. Now, one has not only moved in a circle on each individual floor, but also around
the centrally located lift which comfortably takes the visitors through the entire building. je

structural conditions. The ideas for the flexible use of the director’s premises are rated
very positively.”
