1. Preis: Der Eingang zum neuen Museum öffnet sich mit einem kleinen Vorplatz in
Richtung der Stuttgarter Kulturmeile. Im Erdgeschoss befindet sich der Eingangs-
bereich mit einem flexibel stellbaren Empfangstresen, Garderobe, Sanitäranlagen sowie
einer Cateringküche für Veranstaltungen. Ebenfalls im Erdgeschoss ist der Modellraum
angesiedelt, der als Hauptraum fungiert und flexibel für Ausstellungen und Veranstaltun-
gen genutzt werden kann. Im ersten Obergeschoss befindet sich die Wechselausstellung
des Museums. Große Fensterelemente öffnen den Blick über die Stadt Stuttgart hinweg.
Im zweiten Obergeschoss findet man eine große Bibliothek mit Arbeitsplätzen. Ein wei-
terer Büroraum dient der Verwaltung des Museums. Neben Arbeitsplätzen, einer Perso-
nalküche und WCs liegt hier auch der Zugang zur Direktorenwohnung. Das Gebäude ist
in einer Holz-Skelettbauweise errichtet. Das Konstruktionsraster orientiert sich an den Städtebauliche Verortung und Konstruktionssystem • Urban location and construction system
Maßen der einzelnen Module des Stadtmodells. Die Modellteile haben eine Größe von
maximal 3,15 Meter. So ist ein flexibles Verschieben des Modells möglich. jg Grundriss Erdgeschoss • Ground floor plan
Juryurteil: „Die städtebaulich selbstbewusste Setzung des Hauptvolumens schafft
eine eindeutige Adressierung. Es überzeugt die Raumidee, besonders die Präsentation
des Stadtmodells, bis hin zur Organisation der Direktorenwohnung. Positiv bemerkt
wird darüber hinaus die atmosphärische Ausarbeitung.“
1. Prize: The entrance to the new museum opens onto a small forecourt which is facing
Stuttgart’s cultural mile. The ground floor houses the entrance area with a reception
desk that can be flexibly position, a cloakroom, sanitary facilities and a catering kitchen
for events. Likewise located on the ground floor is the model room, which serves as the
main room and can be used flexibly for exhibitions and events. The museum’s temporary
exhibition is found on the first floor. Large window elements open up the view over the
city of Stuttgart. On the second floor, there is a large library with workstations. Another Schnitt • Section
office space is used for the administration of the museum. In addition to workstations, a
staff kitchen and sanitary facilities, this is also where the director’s apartment is accessed.
The building is constructed using a timber frame. The construction grid is based on the
dimensions of the individual modules used for the city model. The model parts have a
maximum size of 3.15 metres. This allows the model to be moved around flexibly. jg
Jury verdict: “The self-assured urban positioning of the main volume creates a clear
address. The spatial concept is convincing, especially the presentation of the city
model, right down to the organization of the director’s apartment. The atmospheric
design is also noted positively.”
