steps away, in Via della Spiga, is the Nilufar (9) design
gallery where works by Gio Ponti, Franco Albini and con-
temporary designers can be found. Further to the north,
another design institution awaits visitors: the showroom
of the furniture manufacturer De Padova (10), which Vico
Magistretti had designed in his time. From De Padova it
is only a few steps to Via Mozart and thus to the last stop
of today’s tour: Villa Necchi Campiglio (11). The resi-
dence of the industrialist family of the same name was
built by Piero Portaluppi in 1935 and shows one of the
most impressive ensembles of interiors from the thirties.
6.30 p.m. – In time for aperitifs, we continue on foot to
Piazza San Babila and there to Pasticceria Bastianello
(12). Those who manage to secure a seat on the veranda
are now in the completely right spot for the show of
Milanese vanities.

9 p.m. – Dinner at Trattoria Torre di Pisa (13) is a must.
The Tuscan restaurant with its colourful fabric curtains is
famous for its steaks Florentine already tasted by Andy
