F ounded by three friends in 2012, the Wiper and True brewery has long since devel-
oped into a successful company that has now moved its production to new prem-
ises. Part of the company’s new premises located on the edge of Bristol’s historic city
centre is a second pub- and event space for the brand. The building clients wanted
to offer their customers a sustainable, inclusive and barrier-free drinking experience
without any of the usual masculine clichés, an experience they insist is for everyone.
The local Studio B therefore worked exclusively with local suppliers for the interior
construction and focused on a light colour- and material palette in shades of green and
terracotta. To give the taproom a certain permeability and transparency to the brewery
operations, an 18-metre long steel- and glass partition wall was installed towards the
beer-production area and two new openings were cut into the side of the building to
bring more natural light into the space. Seating groups made of real wood, coloured tile
backsplashes and numerous lighting elements give the guest area a contemporary look,
which is to become a green refuge with numerous integrated plant troughs. “We want-
ed to create a sheltered, green oasis that is close to the city but shielded from the hustle
and bustle, so that entering our restaurant is like taking a deep breath,” concludes
Wiper and True’s Marketing Manager Alice Howells, explaining the new location. 22 Biersorten lassen sich an der Bar zapfen. • 22 types of beer can be tapped at the bar.
