I n Berlin durfte Carsten Wiewiorra die Vorstandsetage des Deutschen Bauernverbands
komplett neu denken. Transparenz, Kommunikation und ein modernes Auftreten
standen ganz oben auf der Wunschliste der alteingesessenen Institution. Zu seiner eige-
nen Überraschung stieß der Architekt mit seinem unkonventionellen Ansatz auf offene
Ohren. Die komplette Bürofläche wird heute von einem raumbildenden Wandmöbel
mit schräg zulaufenden Laibungen umschlossen. Neben Präsentationsflächen, Bildschir-
men und Stauraum sind darin auch die Türen zu den Einzelbüros der Führungsebene
und in den multifunktionalen Besprechungsraum integriert. Der offene Arbeitsbereich
im Zentrum wird von drei skulpturalen Inseln zoniert. Hier finden sowohl die festen Mit-
arbeiter als auch temporär anwesende Kollegen aus anderen Dependancen diverse
Möglichkeiten zum Arbeiten, aber auch für informelle Treffen. Lange Profilleuchten ka-
schieren einen Deckensprung, der auf den vormals geschlossenen Mittelflur verweist.
Das auf den ersten Blick verwirrend erscheinende Bild aus Seekiefer, kombiniert mit
Korkfurnier an Laibungen und zurückversetzten Ebenen und den stark gemusterten Tep-
pichfliesen, entwickelt sich bei genauer Betrachtung zu einem stimmigen großen Gan-
zen. Der Verband wird zeitgemäß repräsentiert, der Weg hin zu einer modernen Arbeits-
weise mit kurzen Wegen und flachen Hierarchien steht für alle Beteiligten offen.

I n Berlin, Carsten Wiewiorra had the offered the opportunity to completely rethink the
executive floor of the German Farmers' Association. Transparency, communication
and a modern image were at the top of the long-established institution's wish list. To the
architect's own surprise, his unconventional approach fell on sympathetic ears. Today,
the entire office space is enclosed by a room-creating wall unit with angled reveals. In
addition to presentation areas, screens and storage space, the doors to the individual
offices on the management level and to the multifunctional conference room are also
integrated into the wall furniture. The open-plan working area in the centre is zoned by
three sculptural islands. This is where both permanent staff and temporary colleagues
from other branches find various options for both working and informal meetings. Long
profile luminaires conceal a difference in the ceiling height that indicates the previously
closed central corridor. What at first glance appears to be a confusing overall impression
created by maritime pine, combined with cork veneer on reveals and recessed levels
and the heavily patterned carpet tiles, merges into a harmonious whole on closer in-
spection. The association is represented in a contemporary way, the path to a modern
way of working with short distances and flat hierarchies is open to all those involved.
