Der neue Mehrzwecksaal dockt im 2. Obergeschoss an den Bestand an und beeindruckt innen wie außen. • The new multi-purpose hall with its impressive interior and exterior design connects to the existing building on the second floor.

Das ehemalige Waisenhaus der belgischen Stadt Halle wurde zum
Sozial amt umgebaut. Während das historische Backsteingebäude
von außen kaum merkbar aber hochwirksam saniert und um einen
markanten Anbau erweitert wurde, haben WAW architects im
Inneren ein komplett neues Bild geschaffen. Aus Sichtbeton geformte
Räume und kräftige Farben leiten Mitarbeiter und Besucher heute
durch das offen gestaltete Haus, in dem der Bürger bei sämtlichen
sozialen Belangen Beratung und Unterstützung findet.

The former orphanage of the Belgian city of Halle was converted into
a welfare office. While on the outside, the historic brick building was
subjected to a hardly noticeable but effective refurbishment and ex-
tended with a striking annexe, WAW architects have completely
changed the interior appearance. Rooms made of exposed concrete
and vibrant colours guide employees and visitors through the buil-
ding with an open-plan layout, where citizens are advised and sup-
ported in all of the social matters.
