ACID HOUSE IN BARCELONA

P oblenou bedeutet „neues Dorf“ auf katalanisch – entstanden ist das gleichnamige
Stadtviertel Barcelonas zur Zeit der Industrialisierung. Aufgrund der Lage mit Anbin-
dung zum Hafen und der Nähe zum Meer siedelten sich dort Fabriken an, sodass Poble-
nou Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts die höchste Industriedichte Spaniens aufwies. Mit dem Pro-
jekt @22 wird im Viertel heute die Anlagerung Musik-, Kunst-, Design- und Architektur-
schaffender gefördert. Seitdem befinden sich zahlreiche Galerien und hippe Künstlerstu-
dios in den ehemaligen Industriehallen – auch das von Arquitectura-G zu einem Cowor-
king-Space transformierte Acid House. Die Gestalter brachten die bestehende Gebäude-
struktur mit seiner diversen Materialität in eine einheitliche Formensprache. Dazu wurden
alle Oberflächen mit einer weißen Beschichtung versehen, die die Texturen hervorhebt.
Zehn Jahre lang stehen für Unternehmen Arbeitsplätze, ein Schulungsraum und Meetin-
gräume im Acid House zur Verfügung. Mit wenigen Eingriffen in die eigentliche Bausub-
stanz lag der Fokus auf flexibler, eigens für das Projekt angefertigter Möblierung, die sich
unabhängig an die sich immer verändernden Anforderungen der Arbeitsplätze anpasst
und neu angeordnet werden kann. Für grüne Akzente sorgen zahlreiche, in den Boden
eingelassene Palmen – sie verbessern die Luftqualität und separieren Gruppenarbeits-
plätze von privaten, ruhigeren Orten – ein Co-Working-Space als Oase der Kreativität!

P oblenou means “new village” in Catalan – the Barcelona city district of the same
name originated at the time of industrialization. Due to the location with access to
the harbour and proximity to the sea, factories were established there so that, at the
end of the 19th century, Poblenou had the highest industry density in Spain. With the
@22 project, the district today intends to promote the influx of people working in music,
art, design and architecture. As a result, numerous galleries and hip artist studios are
located in the former industrial warehouses – also Acid House which Arquitectura-G
transformed into a coworking space. The designers gave the existing building structure
with its diverse materials a consistent design. For this purpose, all the surfaces were
given a coat of white paint which emphasizes the textures. For ten years, workstations,
a training room and meeting rooms will be available to companies at Acid House. With
just a few interventions in the actual structure, the focus was on flexible furniture spe-
cifically made for the project which independently adjust to the constantly changing re-
quirements of the workstations and can be rearranged. Numerous palm trees embed-
ded in the floor add green accents and also improve the air quality and separate group
working places from private, quieter areas – a coworking space as an oasis of creativity!
