larger spans in the gable area. Only around 14 cubic metres of glued laminated
timber are used. Components made of solid wood make up a significantly hig-

by the clear structure of vertically arranged, rear-ventilated timber cladding. In
terms of the overall balance, the timber components used for the shell, the faça-
de and the extension offset the CO penalty of the solid reinforced concrete shell.

The wall surfaces of the corridor partition walls are clad with silver fir boards.
The roof truss is also extensively clad with wood on the inside. Wooden louvre
elements were used here to improve the acoustics. In all public areas on the
ground floor, the floor coverings are designed as polished screed surfaces with
regional natural-stone aggregate. Oiled parquet is also used. Care was taken to
ensure that all building structures are made of durable, biologically harmless
and ecologically sound materials. Coatings were avoided and the underground
car park was paved on a compacted gravel substructure. The building has an
optimized enveloping surface, resulting in low heat loss. Wide roof overhangs
provide additional thermal insulation, as direct sunlight is minimized in summer.
Heat is supplied via a connection to the local heating network. Inside the town
hall, the heat is distributed via underfloor heating. Passive cooling is achieved by
means of mechanically controlled night ventilation. For reasons of room hygiene,
a ventilation system with heat recovery and a time programme was installed.
Supply and exhaust air, as well as fresh-air intake and exhaust air, are integrated
as unobtrusively as possible into the appearance of the building. Grundriss 2. Obergeschoss • Floor plan level +2
