W aldbaden gegen Stress – über die heilende Wirkung von „Shinrin Yoku“ ist sich
die medizinische Wissenschaft heute einig. Für die Onkologische Klinik Me Tó Di
Ca in Südspanien verwandeln Clavel Arquitectos den Empfangs- und Wartebereich in
einen grünen Hain. Der Klinikbereich im Westen, mit Sprechzimmern, Behandlungsräu-
men und Laboren, und der Rehabereich im Osten, mit Unterrichtsräumen für Pilates, Yoga
und Personalschulungen, werden über den stilisierten Wald als Zwischenzone verbunden
respektive erschlossen. Die wesentlichen Grundstrukturen, Baumstamm und -krone, Ast-
und Blattwerk, werden von konservierten Pflanzen, naturbelassenem Holz, Leuchtmitteln,
Keramik, Metall und Kunststoff imitiert. Organisch im Grundriss, geometrisch im Schnitt;
geometrisch im Grundriss, organisch im Schnitt – so könnte die Gesetzmäßigkeit lauten,
die dem Entwurf zugrunde liegt. Am Übergang zwischen dem grünen Noppenboden und
den sandfarbenen Fliesen bildet das farblich akzentuierte Wabenmuster einen Ausreißer,
da sein Vorbild weder eindeutig der Natur noch der Geometrie zuzuordnen is t. Wartende
verlieren sich leicht im stressmildernden Grün der Deckenbepflanzung. Üppiger Dschun-
gel – anstatt überdrüssig gewordener, herabhängender Pflanzentöpfe –, der sich über die
stirnseitig verspiegelte Holzlattung auch in der Vertikalen abzeichnet. Auch an der Fas-
sade – hier seitlich bedruckt – skandieren die Lamellen die poetische Qualität des Waldes.

F orest bathing works well against stress – today, medical science agrees on the he-
aling effect of Shinrin Yoku – and for the Me Tó DiI Ca oncological clinic in sout-
hern Spain, Clavel Arquitectos thus turned the reception- and waiting zone into a green
grove. The clinic area in the western section, with consulting rooms, treatment rooms
and laboratories, and the rehabilitation area in the eastern section, with classrooms
for Pilates, yoga and staff training, are linked with and accessed through the stylized
forest as an intermediate zone. The essential basic structures of tree trunk and tree top,
branches and leaves, are imitated by preserved plants, untreated wood, illuminants,
ceramics, metal and synthetics. Organic in the layout, geometrical in the section – thus
could be the order on which the design is based. At the transition from the green stud-
ded flooring and the sand-coloured tiles, the colour-accented honeycomb pattern is an
outlier since its model can neither be clearly assigned to nature nor to geometry. Those
waiting can easily get lost in the stress-reducing green of the planted ceilings. A lush
jungle – instead of the always same suspended plant holders – which also shows in
the vertical direction due to the wooden slats mirrored at the front. At the façade as
well – here laterally printed – the lamellae reflect the poetic quality of the forest.
