S o viel stand fest: Es sollte alles andere werden als eine sterile, kühle Zahnarztpraxis.
Dem Unbehagen, das die Patienten naturgemäß bei einem Besuch beschleicht,
wollte Stefanie Thatenhorst mit Wohnzimmer-Ambiente und einem spannungsvollen
Raumerlebnis entgegenwirken. Gesetzt waren Sichtbeton und Sichtestrich an Wand,
Decke und Boden sowie anthrazitfarbene Fensterrahmen – der Neubau in der maleri-
schen Kleinstadt Kempten ist Erstbezug. Das Team von Thatenhorst Interior schuf zum
Beton einen Kontrast und kombinierte handgefertigte Nussbaumlamellen mit einer an-
regenden farblichen Wandgestaltung in Blau- und Grüntönen. Den Hingucker im Emp-
fangsbereich bildet nun der große, monumental gestaltete, golden spiegelnde Tresen,
der mit einer dekorativen grafischen Beleuchtung in Szene gesetzt wird. Wohl und um-
sorgt fühlen soll sich jeder besonders in den Behandlungsräumen: Dazu tragen Patch-
work-verspielte Glas-Stahl-Elemente als Abtrennung ebenso bei wie runde abgehängte
Lichtpaneele. Der noble Möbel-Mix aus Nussbaum und weichen Polstermöbeln im War-
tezimmer, die Farbklaviatur von Schwarz über Grau zu Weiß, gedeckten Türkis- u nd
Blautönen, edlem Creme und warmem Holz wird ergänzt durch ausgesuchte Designge-
genstände und einzelne große Pflanzen, die Frische und Lebendigkeit in das elegante
Interior bringen. So würde man tatsächlich auch wohnen wollen!

T his much was certain: it was to be anything but a sterile, cool dental practice. Ste-
fanie Thatenhorst wanted to counteract the unease that naturally creeps up on pa-
tients when visiting a dentist’s office with a living room ambience and an exciting spatial
experience. As the new building in the picturesque town of Kempten is occupied for the
first time, the only given materials were fair-faced concrete and fair-faced screed used
for walls, ceilings and floors plus anthracite-coloured window frames. The team from
Thatenhorst Interior juxtaposed the concrete by combining handcrafted walnut slats
with an inspiring colourful wall design in shades of blue and green. The eye-catcher in
the reception area is the golden, reflecting counter with a monumental design, which is
staged with decorative graphic lighting. Everyone should feel comfortable and cared for,
especially in the treatment rooms: playful, patchwork-like glass and steel elements as
partitions and circular suspended light panels contribute to this effect. The elegant fur-
niture mix of walnut and soft upholstered furniture in the waiting room, the colour range
from black to grey to white, muted turquoise and blue shades, classy cream and warm
wood is complemented by selected design objects and a few large plants that bring
freshness and liveliness to the elegant interior. One could actually live that way!
