Frauen, die in der westlichen Welt ein Kind erwarten, können
sich einer umfassenden medizinischen Betreuung sicher sein –
vor, während und nach der Geburt. Der ostafrikanische Staat
Malawi hat hingegen eine der höchsten Sterblichkeitsraten der
Welt bei Müttern und Kindern zu beklagen. Jetzt gibt der von
MASS Design Group entwickelte, im April eingeweihte Prototyp
für ein Maternity Waiting Village Anlass zur Hoffnung. Hier kön-
nen werdende Mütter gut umsorgt ihre Kinder zur Welt bringen.

Women expecting a child in the western world can count on
comprehensive medical care – before, during and after the deli-
very. The East-African state of Malawi, in contrast, is suffering
one of the highest mortality rates in the world when it comes to
mothers and children. Now the prototype of a Maternity Waiting
Village planned by MASS Design Group and inaugurated in April
gives cause for hope. This is where expectant mothers are able
to give birth to their children while being well cared-for.
