JINS HEADQUARTER
IN TOKIO
In May 2023, the offices of the eyewear brand Jins reloca-
ted to a Tokyo high-rise building. This was rented in its
entirety for interim use as the building will be demo-
lished in the near future. Fumiko Takahama Architects
5 were commissioned with the remodelling. The limited
utilization period resulted in a concept based on reducti-
on rather than addition and diverse communication.

The concept is based on two ideas: “Create space by demolishing” and
“Museum x Office”. The former means creating space by subtraction,
by opening up walls and floors and, at the same time, minimizing the
additive and the new as much as possible. All in the spirit of limiting
resources. The “Museum x Office” is intended to be a place where ideas

and creativity are stimulated, like in an art museum. The resulting work

devising new ways of working rather than providing a passive environ-
