Industrielook – ergänzt durch verspielte Details • Industrial look with playful details

B eeindruckend, aber lässig sollten die neuen Büroflächen sein, flexi-
bel, aber auch individuell – so die Wünsche des Bauherrn, eines Fi-
nanzdienstleiters in Chicago, an das Architektenteam von Kuchar Studio.
In einer alten Industrieanlage fanden sie die passenden Räumlichkeiten,
und die vermeintlich widersprüchlichen Anforderungen konnten mit
einem ebensolchen Entwurfskonzept beantwortet werden: Entstanden ist
eine Mischung aus alt und neu, Beton und Holz, schwarz und weiß, mi-
nimalistisch und verspielt. Das ergab nicht nur eine unverwechselbare
Büroadresse, sondern durch Bestandserhalt wurden auch noch Kosten ge-
spart. Zum Einsatz kamen hochwertige Möbel des spanischen Herstellers
Andreu World: Im Konferenzbereich der einhüllende, bequeme, weil voll-
ständig gepolsterte Nuez Chair in der Fünffußvariante – ein Entwurf von
Patricia Urquiola, die die Idee hatte, die Sitzschale aus einer Fläche – wie
ein Blatt Papier – zu formen. Die beiden Stuhl- und Sesselversionen sind
mit Holzfüßen, Stahlschlitten, als Freischwinger oder mit zentralem Dreh-
gelenk aus Holz oder eingespritztem Aluminium lieferbar. Die kommuni-
kativen Arbeitsplätze und Treffpunkte der Mitarbeiter wurden ausgestattet
mit dem Flex Chair, den es sowohl mit einer thermopolymeren Eco- wie
auch einer Polsterschale gibt, die, mit Metall- oder Holzgestellen kombi-
niert, sich bestens in Arbeits- und Besprechungsbereiche einfügen. Das
macht den Entwurf von Piergiorgio Cazzaniga vielseitig einsetzbar, leicht,

Kuchar Studio. They found the suitable premises in an old industrial
plant and could meet the presumed contrary demands with an equal
design concept: The result: a mixture of the old and the new, concrete
and wood, black and white, minimalist and playful. This not only gene-
rated a unique office address but costs were also saved by preserving
the building stock. High-quality furniture by the Spanish Andreu World
manufacturer were chosen: in the conference area, the cocooning, com-
fortable since completely upholstered Nuez Chair in the five-leg variant
– a design by Patricia Urquiola who had the idea of forming a modula-
ting seat – like a sheet of paper. The two chair- and armchair versions
have wooden legs, steel sliders, are cantilever chairs or have a central
swivel of wood or injected aluminium. The communicative workstati-
ons and meeting points of the employees were furnished with the Flex
Chairs available with a shell of thermopolymer Eco or an upholstered
shell that, combined with metal- or wooden frames, excellently fit into
the working- and meeting areas. This makes the design by Piergiorgio
Cazzaniga versatile, light, sustainable and – as the name says – flexible.
