FULL MOON GROUP
HEADQUARTER IN STUTTGART
Entwurf • Design Studio Scalici, Stuttgart
von • by Dr. Uwe Bresan
In
rische Fotografien in allen Bereichen präsent. Wir würden sagen: Mission erfüllt!
A ler boss Edzard Reuter thought big and had the new control centre of his global com-
t the time when driving a car was still cool, at the end of the last millennium, Daim-
pany built on a site as large as 17 football pitches on the outskirts of Stuttgart. It was to
become a kind of campus consisting of 13 houses for 3,000 employees amidst the
greenery; a mighty accumulation of grey administrative blocks was the result! Already
Reuter’s successor, Jürgen Schrempp, berated the facility as “bullshit castle”. Schremmp
was succeeded by Dieter Zetsche who commanded an orderly retreat. In the meantime,
even the last “Daimlerians” have left and ceded the building to new users. The Stuttgart
Full Moon Group event- and communication agency moved into “Haus 3”. On board: the
interior architect Sandra Scalici! On 3,000 square metres on three levels, she turned the
little attractive administration architecture with its long, dark hallways and standardized
cellular offices into a lively work environment. To achieve this, the building stock was al-
most completely gutted. Instead of individual offices are team workspaces with meeting-
and presentation rooms producing zones on the levels. Scalici developed a striking gra-
phic concept. Consistent with the agency’s name, themes of space travel shown on wall-
covering historic photographs in all the sections. We would say: mission accomplished!
