Sasha Bikoff mined the fashion world of the late 1980s and early 1990s with their
playfulness. A fashion world that was characterised – among other
things due to the popular TV series Miami Vice – by the southern
flair and the lascivious lightness of the US metropolis of Miami. It
was therefore no surprise that the fashion designer moved to South
Florida in 1992, where he, inspired by the Caribbean charm and the
iconic Art Decò streets, worked on the creation on ever new collec-
tions until his tragic death in 1997. And it also comes as no surprise
that the company is now returning to these times for this year's ex-
hibition of its Versace Home collection comprising lifestyle products,
home textiles and furniture. Interior designer Sasha Bikoff, who
grew up in New York and Miami, was commissioned with the design
of the exhibition at the so-called Palazzo Versace on Via Gesù for the
annual Fuorisalone. Inspired by the Fall/Winter 1994 collection, she
created a fabulous-looking combination of vintage design elements
in an island setting skilfully accentuated with neon light. The floor,
which is covered with a wide variety of swirling Versace patterns
that are hard to surpass in terms of their freakiness, perfectly com-
plements the three pastel-coloured, cloud-shaped islands on which
various products from the latest collection are displayed together
with two tropical palm trees. For the design of the corridors and
staircases inside the building, the architect received additional sup-
port from the Canadian artist Andy Dixon, who uses the obligatory
neon lights and pastel shades to present three oversized, hand-pain-
