Ü ber 900 Sitzschalen aus wetterfestem und UV-beständigem schwarzem Granulat –
auf einer Struktur aus Stahlprofilen befestigt – zieren die Fassade des Ausstellungs-
und Büropavillons der MY DVA Group. Das eingeschossige Gebäude im tschechischen
Brno stammt aus den 1990er Jahren und diente früher als Autohaus. Der Möbelhersteller
MY DVA Group entschied sich, das unspektakuläre Gebäude zu einem temporären Show-
room um zunutzen. Der Auftrag, mit minimalen Kosten einen maximalen Effekt zu erzielen
und zugleich eine explizite Verbindung zur Produktpalette herzustellen, führte die Architek-
ten Ondrej Chybík und Michal Krištof schnell zur Idee einer neuen Fassadenverkleidung
und zum identitätsstiftenden Material dafür: einen Plastikstuhl namens Vicenza, den der
Möbelhersteller standardmäßig vertreibt. Im Inneren des Pavillons haben die Planer durch
simple Eingriffe – wie die Vergrößerung der ehemaligen Eingangshalle, das Verlegen von
weißem Estrich und das Offenlegen der Sichtbetondecke – eine weit räumige, flexibel
gestaltbare Fläche geschaffen. Innerhalb dieser Ausstellungsfläche markieren raumhohe
weiße Vorhänge drei kreisrunde Galerien und ermöglichen so unterschiedliche Settings.
Jede Galerie steht für eines der drei Segmente der Produktpalette des Unter nehmens:
Schul-, Büro- und Designmöbel. Die Arbeitsplätze der Mitarbeiter sind am Rand des Bau -
körpers ange ordnet, um eine Versorgung mit Tageslicht und Frischluft zu gewährleisten.

M ore than 900 seat shells, which are made of weatherproof and UV-resistant
black granulate material and mounted on a steel profile structure, adorn the
façade of the showroom and office pavilion of the MY DVA Group. The one-storey build-
ing in Brno, Czech Republic, dates from the 1990s and previously served as a car deal-
ership. Furniture manufacturer MY DVA Group decided to convert the unspectacular
building into a temporary showroom. The commission to achieve maximum effects on
a minimum budget and simultaneously establish an explicit connection to the product
range, quickly led the architects Ondřej Chybík and Michal Krištof to the idea to create
a new façade cladding using an identity-generating material: a plastic chair called
Vicenza, a standard product supplied by the furniture manufacturer. With simple inter-
ventions – for example, the enlargement of the former entrance hall, a new white
screed flooring and the exposure of the fair-faced concrete ceiling – the architects
turned the interiors of the pavilion into a spacious, flexible adaptable area. In the exhi-
bition area, white floor-to-ceiling curtains mark three circular galleries, thus allowing
different settings. Each gallery stands for one of the three segments of the company’s
product range: school, office and designer furniture. The workspaces of the staff are
laid out on the edge of the building to ensure good daylighting and ventilation.
