Aufblasbarer Lichtdom

In der griechischen Mythologie war Daedalus, Vater von Ikarus, der
Architekt des Labyrinths von Minos. Die neueste Tragluft-Installa-
tion von Architects of Air aus Nottingham, das „Daedalum“, ist ein
Labyrinth aus 19 eiförmigen, transluzenten Kuppeln. Eine geometri-
sche Struktur aus hauchdünnen, in Handarbeit vernähten PVC-Hül-
len leitet Tageslicht ins Innere und verwandelt die begehbare
Skulptur in einen grenzenlosen Raum aus Farben. Je nach Sonnen-
stand verändern sich Helligkeit und Strahlkraft des durchscheinen-
den Materials, wobei die silbergrauen Häute lichtabsorbierend
wirken und die farbigen lichtdurchlässig sind. Seit 1992 reist Alan
Parkinson mit seinen luftigen Luminaria um die Welt. Das neueste
Labyrinth versetzte die Besucher des Londoner Greenwich+Dock-
lands International Festival mit mystischem Leuchten in Staunen.

According to Greek mythology, Daedalus, the father of Icarus, was
the architect of the Minos labyrinth. The latest inflatable installation
by Architects of Air from Nottingham, the Daedalum, is a labyrinth
of 19 egg-shaped, translucent domes. A geometrical structure consi-
sting of wafer-thin, hand-sewn PVC shells lets daylight penetrate in-
side and turns the walkable sculpture into a boundless space of co-
lours. Depending on the position of the sun, the brightness and the
radiance of the transparent material change with the silver-grey
skins having a light-absorbing effect and the coloured ones being
translucent. Since 1992, Alan Parkinson has been travelling around
