C asa Desordenada nennen die Architekten Juan Antonio Serrano und Paloma
Baquero das Projekt im Herzen der südspanischen Stadt Granada: die unaufge-
räumte Wohnung. Tatsächlich lebt der Raum vor allem durch die Superposition verschie-
dener Ordnungen, die in ihrer Gleichzeitigkeit den Eindruck von Unordnung er wecken.
Die Wohnung wurde entkernt, allein die Gipsdekore der Decke und die tragende
Struktur aus Beton blieben an Ort und Stelle. Das Vorgefundene wurde durch ein neues,
versetztes System aus aufeinandergestapelten, transluzenten Poly pro pylen-Boxen über-
lagert. Auf intelligente Weise wurde von der Speisekammer bis zur Be leuchtung alles in
den neuen Wänden untergebracht. Die gesamte Infrastruktur verläuft unsichtbar in einer
einzigen Wand aus den kleinen Kunststoffboxen. In der übrigen Wohnung ermöglichen
sie einen kon tinuierlichen Modifikations prozess: Kleinmöbel und auch raum hohe Wän -
de lassen sich ohne großen Aufwand aus den Kisten zusammensetzen. Sollten sich die
Bedürfnisse der Bewohner ändern, kann die Wohnung so mitsamt ihren Raum größen
und Möbeln im Handum drehen transformiert werden. Die Koexistenz von be stehenden
und eingefügten Ordnungssystemen, von konstruktiven Elementen und alltäg lichen
Gebrauchsgegenständen sowie die Variation von natürlicher und künstlicher Belich tung
schaffen einen hellen, bespielbaren Innenraum in unkonventioneller Materialität.

C asa Desordenada — the untidy apartment — is the name the architects Juan
Antonio Serrano and Paloma Baquero have given to this project in the heart of
Granada, a city in the South of Spain. In fact, the space lives primarily because of
the superposition of different orders, which in their simultaneity create the impres-
sion of disorder. The apartment was gutted, only the plaster decors on the ceiling
and the concrete support structure remained in place. The existing elements were
superimposed by a new, staggered system of translucent polypropylene boxes
stacked on top of each other. Everything from the pantry to lighting was intelligently
placed in the new walls. The entire infrastructure is hidden inside a single wall
made up of small plastic boxes, which allow a continuous modification process:
Small pieces of furniture and floor-to-ceiling walls can be easily assembled from the
boxes. If the needs of the occupants change, the apartment together with its room
sizes and furniture can be transformed in no time at all. The coexistence of existing
and inserted ordering systems, of constructive elements and everyday objects as
well as the variation of natural and artificial lighting create a bright, variable interior
space with unconventional materiality.
