13.10 RESTAURANT
IN VIMERCATE
The 13.10 Ristorante opened last year in a suburb north
of Milan hosted by the municipality of Vimercate. A small
but exquisite boutique restaurant with just 25 seats,
where diners are intended to be tempted in two ways:
While chef Marcello Passoni tickles the palate, interior
architect and designer Serena Confalonieri ensures good
taste beyond the plate with her first interior project.

colourful, even though the colour palette here is mainly concentrated
Serena Confalonieri on natural tones – apart from the brightly patterned wallpaper in the
restroom area. The plastered walls and ceilings of the rooms, which are
grouped around a small inner courtyard, are bathed in muted shades
of beige, brown, grey and green and thus manage to form a calm base.
The floors and even some of the walls are much wilder: Large-format
porcelain-stoneware tiles in a high-contrast marble look bring a good
dose of dynamism into play here. Meanwhile, the grooved wooden
surfaces of the wall niches, into which upholstered and chequered ben-
ches are fitted, provide tactile vibrancy. The rippled pattern is repea-
ted on the small reception desk in the entrance area. Furniture and
home accessories that have been created by the designer herself can
of course also be found in the restaurant, including the Archie wooden
table by Medulum, the Stilla wall mirror by Potocco, the Mia vase by
Mason Editions, a custom-made carpet by Besana Carpet Lab as well
as the colourful Carnival wallpaper by Wall&decò. By the way, it is no
coincidence that all the components – meaning the colours, the shapes
and the materials – come together to create a harmonious interior at
the 13.10 Ristorante. Serena Confalonieri, who previously made a name
for herself as a graphic- and product designer, had studied interior
architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. With the design of the small
restaurant, which welcomes its guests with a pleasant, homely feel, she
has now made her debut with an entire interior concept. Her eccentric
and refined style transforms the environment and successfully adds an
