KIMPTON VIVIDORA
HOTEL IN BARCELONA
El Equipo Creativo designed the Kimpton Vividora Hotel
in Barcelona’s old town. Located not far from the Liceu
metro station, the Mercat de la Boqueria, the Sagrada Fa-
milia and the Miró Foundation at Carrer Del Duc 15, the
local reference is successful: Individually designed rooms
establish a dialogue between the hotel and the city and
reflect Barcelona’s lifestyle and architecture.
T he creative team of the Barcelona-based architectural office El
Equipo Creativo is repeatedly acclaimed for its work at re-
nowned architecture and design awards. Specialised in brand archi-
tecture as well as gastronomic and commercial interior fittings, and
experienced in the development of new design strategies, each new
building task is matched to the client’s ideas and the specific local

as is also the case with this hotel design: The rooms at street level
turned out to be too small to accommodate the hotel lobby, so the
office decided without further ado to implement a new bar on the
ground floor: Cafe Got now serves as a link between the city and the
hotel, and its long street façade invites guests and locals alike. The
actual lobby area of the Vividora Hotel is located on the level above,
a double-high storey connecting it to the bar. The three stone coun-
ters serve as reception desks and refer to the stone fountains that can
be found in the courtyards of the Gothic quarter. A lounge area with
a created co-working space behind it complements the lobby. In the
Fauna restaurant on the first floor, surfaces tiled in a collage-like
style relate to the ceramic elements typical of Barcelona’s residential
buildings. With a casual and elegant atmosphere, all of the 156
rooms and suites vividly demonstrate Barcelona’s lifestyle. Based on
an open-plan design that merges bathroom and bedroom, colour,
temperature and materiality are effectively contrasting with each
other. Handcrafted elements, local brands and colourful ceramic pat-
terns are combined with contemporary design: warm-toned leather
headboards in the sleeping area contrast with the room dividers of
the open bathroom area, some of which are finished with cold-toned
blue ceramic tiles. Wooden surfaces in the room provide a very char-
ming counterpart to the cool marble tiles used in the wet area and
the black metal profiles that frame all the mirrors and also the lights.
The suites additionally boast a comfortable living area and a bathtub
