portugiesische Architektur-Illustrator André Choite berühmten

Sakralbauten der Moderne gewidmet. Unter den insgesamt 17

Zeich nungen befinden sich sowohl Kirchen als auch Synagogen

und Moscheen. Für Choite bilden die ausgesuchten Bauten das

kulturelle Erbe unserer Zivilisation. Wie die Pyramiden von

Ägypten, die Tempel Griechenlands oder die Kathedralen der Gotik

bewahren sie ein Abbild unserer Zeit und unserer Gesellschaft für

zukünftige Generationen. Für seine Dar stellungen hat Choite die

Gebäude vereinfacht und auf ihre jeweils relevantesten und iden-

tifizierbarsten Aspekte reduziert. Die ver einfachten Architektur-

Geometrien lässt Choite dann wiederum mit natürlichen Elemen -

ten – Himmel, Wasser und Bäumen – zusammentreffen. So setzt er

die Bauten in einen feinen Dialog zwischen Kultur und Natur.

Portuguese architectural illustrator André Choite has dedicated his

latest series of graphics, entitled Sacred Spaces, to famous sacred

buildings of the modern era. The 17 drawings include churches as

well as synagogues and mosques. For André Choite, the selected

buildings form the cultural heritage of our civilisation. Like the pyr-

amids of Egypt, the temples of Greece or the cathedrals of the
Gothic period, they preserve an image of our time and our society

for future generations. For his representations, Choite has simpli-

fied the buildings and reduced them to their most relevant and

identifiable aspects. In turn, Choite creates a subtle interaction be-

tween the simplified architectural geometries and natural ele-

ments — the sky, water and trees. In this way he places the build-

ings in a subtle dialogue between culture and nature.
