DENTSU SWITZERLAND
AG IN ZURICH
The Kreis 5 district of Zurich is popular with compa-
nies that rely on urban industrial chic. Dentsu Switzer-
land has also settled there with its new headquarters.
The marketing-service provider was supported in its
choice of a suitable rental property by the Büronauten
agency in Zurich. The local office professionals have
also been responsible for the interior design concept.
O ne of the most important insights that the pandemic has brought
to many employers and home office sceptics is probably that wor-
king from a desk at home works just fine, both technically and organiza-
tionally. Data exchange and meetings at a distance no longer present a
problem nowadays – and they are a perfectly adequate alternative to the
traditional in-office work. Especially since the whole new way of working
has well-known advantages for employees: no long daily commutes any-
more, more flexibility in family- and time management, and so on. But
companies such as Dentsu Switzerland still want to offer an attractive
workplace where all employees can enjoy coming together. The new
Dentsu headquarters were to be designed accordingly. “Basically, the
company wanted us to design a place that would encourage employees
to come back to the office on a regular basis,” Regine Tschopp explains,
interior designer at the Zurich Büronauten office. And so, 110 workplaces
and various meeting rooms were set up on an area measuring approxi-
mately 1,600 square metres. Meeting zones such as the fully equipped
large kitchenette or the entrance zone, which is designed as an event-
and club area, are intended to promote togetherness and also strengthen
the social community as a whole. At the same time, the different work-
and recreation areas serve to divide the narrow and elongated layout on
the first floor of the modern office building. The office with its open room
structure, the large window fronts and long visible technical installations
on the ceiling is dominated by grey and silver tones. However, these
were contrasted with warm wood hues in the form of furniture and in-
stallations, which compensate for the cool impression of the rest of the
colour scheme and thus make the ambience a little homelier. When
choosing the materials, the aspect of sustainability played a particularly
important role for the client. Jonas Eliassen, then CEO Media Switzerland
of Dentsu Switzerland, says: “We tried our very best to put everything on
a sustainable basis. Among other measures we took, the floor coverings
are manufactured in a CO -neutral way. By 2030 at the latest, we are
