F ür den Sneaker-Onlineshop Asphaltgold in Darmstadt hatte Why the Friday bereits
2016 den Store AGC am Ludwigplatz erfolgreich konzipiert. So war es nur folgerichtig,
dass sich Inhaber Daniel Benz erneut an die Innenarchitektin Annika Jung und den Pro-
duktdesigner Ruben Löbbert wandte, als es um die Schaffung von rund 680 Quadratme-
tern Bürofläche ging. Zwei Geschosse der bereits etablierten Co-Working-Spaces Office
129 1/2 standen zur Verfügung, um unprätentiöse, funktionale, aber auch unkonventio-
nelle Arbeitsplätze zu schaffen – zusammen mit Flächen für Meetings und gemeinsamen
Aufenthalt, getreu dem Firmenmotto Look ´n´ Feel. Mit dem bestehenden Bodenbelag
war die Farbe Grün gesetzt, den frischen Schwarz-Weiß-Kontrast lieferte das neue Logo
des Unternehmens. Als optische Trenner fungieren Lattenwände aus Kanthölzern, die so-
wohl Durchblicke als auch Lichteinfall zulassen. 680 Quadratmeter Bürofläche auf zwei
Ebenen werden dadurch geschickt gegliedert und die zahlreichen unterschiedlichen
Funktionsbereiche wie Team- und Einzelbüros, Meetingräume, Lunchbereich, Open Of-
fice, Coffee-Corner, Stehmeeting, Gemeinschafts- und Loungefläche intelligent definiert.
Die Nebenbereiche beider Etagen sind in tiefes Schwarz getaucht, um sie in den Hinter-
grund rücken zu lassen. Identitätsfördernd ergänzt wird das schlüssige Konzept durch die
sportive Bildsprache der eigenen Fotoabteilung von Asphaltgold.

A lready in 2016, Why the Friday had successfully designed the Store AGC in Ludwig-
platz in Darmstadt for the Asphaltgold online shop for sneakers. It was thus nothing
but consequent that the owner Daniel Benz again approached the interior architect An-
nika Jung and the product designer Ruben Löbbert when it was a matter of designing ap-
proximately 680 square metres of office space. Two levels of the already established Spa-
ces Office 129 1/2 coworking spaces were available for unpretentious, functional but also
unconventional workplaces – together with areas for meetings and relaxing together true
to the company motto Look ´n´ Feel. With the existing floorcovering, the colour green was
already a given and the new logo of the company supplied the fresh black-and-white con-
trast. Slat walls of square timber function as the visual separation while allowing per-
spectives and the incidence of light. 680 square metres of office space on two levels are
thus cleverly structured and the different functional zones such as team- and individual
offices, meeting rooms, lunch area, open-plan office, coffee corner, lounge areas were in-
telligently defined. The secondary areas of both levels are immersed in deep black to
make them recede into the background. To promote identity, the consistent concept is
complemented by the sportive imagery of Asphaltgold’s own photo department.
