                                                                                     The Martin et Karczinski agency had to move only for
                                                                                     reasons of space. Leaving the existing premises was not
                                                                                     done gladly. Finding an adequate replacement was the-
                                                                                     refore not an easy task for the designers from the Seven
                                                                                     Elohim studio. The result is an ambience that shows a de-
                                                                                     finite attitude and allows space for creative development.
                                                                                     No doubt the pain on parting will here soon be forgotten.



                                                                                     T  he Martin et Karczinski agency for brand strategy, corporate identity
                                                                                        and design develops the appearance of major well-known compa-
                                                                                     nies such as Lufthansa, Occhio and Gaggenau. When the Munich office
                                                                                     had become too cramped, with a heavy heart Peter Martin set out on the
                                                                                     search of new premises. He found them at the periphery of Maxvorstadt.
                                                                                     What he discovered was an, at first glance, little attractive looking
                                                                                     functional building from the 1960s which was put up for rent. The foun-
                                                                                     der of the agency commissioned the planners from Seven Elohim with
                                                                                     the design of the area measuring 2,500 square metres spread out over
                                                                                     four floors. In their work, the architect Florian Dressler and the designer

                                                                                     is exactly what the client wanted: A monastic looking kind of architecture
                                                                                     where deceleration happens quite naturally. The designers only saw a
                                                                                     chance for reaching this goal in the rooms in question once the striking
                                                                                     ribbed-concrete structure appeared underneath the suspended ceiling.
                                                                                     The exposed, unfinished structure of the ceiling today forms the atmo-
                                                                                     spheric frame in the multilayered working world. Custom-made furniture
                                                                                     of just a few materials such as natural stone, wood and linen produce a
                                                                                     puristic ambience that communicates a pleasant feeling in all the areas.
                                                                                     The entrance level on the first upper floor not only has the reception but
                                                                                     is also the central meeting point of the approximately 90 employees.
                                                                                     This is where the large coffee machine stands, where conferences take
                                                                                     place and where cooking is jointly done in the large, elegant kitchen of
                                                                                     black steel – as a confidence-building activity sometimes also readily to-
                                                                                     gether with clients. Closed rooms have been foregone, transparent glass
                                                                                     partitions produce zones on the surface and bring daylight into all the
                                                                                     areas. On the two floors above are the workstations. Along a central aisle
                                                                                     are six stations arranged on each side with solid wooden desks. Between
                                                                                     them, added wooden cubes covered with fabric function as room parti-
                                                                                     tions as well as storage room, shelves and a seating niche. In contrast,
                                                                                     the uppermost floor has been designed with the flair of a penthouse. It
