M ittelständische Unternehmen gelten als Rückgrat der deutschen Wirtschaft. Sie
sind Arbeitgeber, Ausbilder, Exporteure, Wirtschaftsmotoren ... Abgesehen von der
enormen Verantwortung ist das zeitliche Investment der FirmeninhaberInnen gewaltig.
Im Landkreis Fulda ließ die Unternehmerin eines führenden Metallverarbeiters deshalb
ein Business Apartment in den Verwaltungstrakt ihrer Firma integrieren. Diese Zweitwoh-
nung soll es ihr ermöglichen, sich stundenweise aus dem Berufsalltag auszuklinken und
doch vor Ort zu sein. Raum + Inhalt konzipierten die 81 Quadratmeter große Wohnein-
heit explizit als Gegenentwurf zum nüchternen Arbeitsumfeld der Metallbranche. Durch
eine breite Palette an Farben, Mustern, Texturen und Oberflächen ließ das Büro für Inte-
rior Concepts eine entspannende Atmosphäre entstehen. Dazu tragen weiche Teppiche,
Vorhänge mit Farbverlauf, Polstermöbel, Tapeten, eine aus Halbzylindern gefertigte,
veloursverkleidete, akustisch wirksame Wand sowie edle Feinsteinzeuge bei. All dies
kontrastiert mit der Betonwand der Fassade, die innen ganz bewusst als rohe Oberfläche
belassen wurde. Lange Sichtachsen verleihen dem Apartment seine Großzügigkeit. Dirk
Weber und Marc Koslowski umreißen ihr Konzept so: „Die Wohnung zeichnet sich durch
zurückhaltende Extravaganz aus und reflektiert die Persönlichkeit der Bauherrin, die in
einer von Männern dominierten Branche mit innovativen Produkten erfolgreich agiert.“
M edium-sized companies are considered the backbone of the German economy. They
are employers, trainers, exporters, economic engines... Apart from the enormous
responsibility, the time investment of company owners is tremendous. In the Fulda district,
the proprietor of a leading metal processing company therefore had a business apartment
integrated into the administrative building of her company. This second home is intended
to allow her to disconnect from the daily work routine for a few hours while still being
on site. Raum + Inhalt designed the 81-square-metre flat explicitly as an alternative to the
sober working environment of the metal industry. Through a wide range of colours, pat-
terns, textures and surfaces, the interior design studio created a relaxing atmosphere. Soft
carpets, curtains with a colour gradients, upholstered furniture, wallpapers, an acoustically
effective wall made of velour-covered half-cylinders, and exquisite ceramic tiles contribute
to this atmosphere. All of this contrasts with the concrete wall of the façade, which was
deliberately left as a raw surface on the inside. Long sightlines lend the apartment its
spaciousness. Dirk Weber and Marc Koslowski outline their concept as follows: “The flat
is characterised by restrained extravagance and reflects the personality of the client, who
operates successfully with innovative products in a male-dominated industry.”
