M ann trägt heute wieder Bart! Dadurch sprossen in den letzten Jahren nicht nur
hierzulande, sondern in ganz Europa rasch zahlreiche Barbershops aus dem
Boden. Mithilfe von handgeschlagenem Rasierschaum, Pinseln und klassischen Ra-
siermessern wird präzise getrimmt, frisiert und gepflegt, als fände man sich in den
1950er-Jahren wieder. Fernab vom Rockabilly-Klischee entstand in der Altstadt des
ukrainischen Odessa innerhalb kürzester Zeit – drei Monate vom Entwurf bis zur Er-
öffnung – ein monochromer, geradliniger Barbershop. Im Zuge des Friseurbesuchs
kann sich der moderne Gentleman dort zugleich eine Pediküre gönnen oder tätowie-
ren lassen. Ein eingestellter Kubus ermöglicht die Unterbringung dieser zusätzlichen
Angebote. Die resultierende zweite Ebene fungiert als Loungebereich, während im
Inneren ein weiterer Behandlungsraum Platz findet. Gleichzeitig bildet die silbern
glänzende Vorderwand des Würfels eine angemessene Kulisse für den Tresen in Mar-
moroptik, den Mittelpunkt des Raumes. Ausgewählte Pflegeprodukte bekommen
dort einen wertigen – beinahe schwebenden – Auftritt. Roh belassene, grob verputzte
Wände formen die Basis für den rauen Look des Gewölbes und erzeugen einen Kon-
trast zu dem schimmernden Ensemble. Im hinteren Bereich komplettieren schwarze
Einbauten und Möbel das coole, äußerst maskuline Interieur.

S porting a beard is back in style! As a result, numerous barber's shops have
mushroomed all over Europe in recent years. With the help of hand-beaten shaving
foam, brushes and classic razors, beards are accurately trimmed, styled and groomed
as if we were back in the fifties. Away from the Rockabilly cliché, a monochrome, linear
barber's shop was created in the old town of Odessa within a very short time – the im-
plementation of the project from the design phase to the opening only took three
months. During the visit to the barber, modern gentlemen who care about their appea-
rance can also treat themselves to a pedicure or have a tattoo done. An inserted cubic
element allows the accommodation of these additional personal services. The resul-
ting second level functions as a lounge area, while the inside of the cube provides
space for an additional treatment room. At the same time, the shiny silver front wall
of the cube provides an appropriate backdrop for the counter in marble look, the cen-
tre of the room. Here, selected care products are presented with a high-quality – almost
floating – appearance. Coarsely plastered walls, which were left raw, form the basis for
the rough look of the vault and create a contrast to the shimmering ensemble. At the
back of the shop, black fixtures and furniture complete the cool, masculine interior.
