Ende der 1950er-Jahre schuf Aldo van Eyck mit dem Städtischen Wai -
senhaus in Amsterdam das bekannteste Ensemble der struk turalis ti -
schen Architektur. Der Klassiker, der in keiner Bauge schich te des
20. Jahr hunderts fehlt, befand sich zuletzt in einem be dauerns -
werten Zustand. Jetzt wurde das Gebäude von Grund auf saniert und
beherbergt heute die Büroräume des Projekt ent wicklers BPD. Der
Um gang des Architekten Wessel de Jonge und der Innenarchi tek tin
Odette Ex mit dem bedeutenden Baudenkmal war vorbildlich.

At the end of the 1950s, Aldo van Eyck designed the best-known
ensemble of structuralist architecture: the municipal orphanage in
Amsterdam. However, the classic which is not missing in any archi-
tectural history of the 20th century was last in a pitiable condition.
Now the building has been radically renovated and today is the
location of the office premises for the BPD project developer. How
the architect Wessel de Jonge and the interior designer Odette Ex
handled the significant architectural monument was exemplary.
