2 Die Nørreport-Station in Kopenhagen ist als meistfrequentierter Bahnhof Däne -
marks einer der wichtigsten Verkehrsknotenpunkte der Stadt und wird unterirdisch
von rund 300.000 Reisenden täglich passiert. Oberirdisch treffen noch einmal 250.000
Passanten, rund 20.000 Fahrrad fahrer und verschiedene Buslinien des Nah- und Fern -
verkehrs aufeinander. Um aus diesem hoch dynamischen, aber auch unüber sicht lichen
Ort einen funktionierenden, urbanen Stadtraum zu machen, begannen die Planer von
Cobe und Gottlieb Paludan Architects für ihren Bahnhofsentwurf mit einer ausführli-
chen Lauf weg analyse der zahlreichen Nutzer. Diese diente als Grundlage zur
Dimensionierung, Posi tionierung und Ausgestaltung sämtlicher Komponenten des
neuen Bahnhofs vor platzes und der darauf befindlichen Neubauten. In der Konse quenz
entstand eine weitläufige Pavillonstruktur, die Fuß gän ger und Radfahrer hindernisfrei
und schwellenlos passieren lässt. Statt eines Bordsteigs kennzeichnet nun ein barriere-
freier Boden belag wechsel den Bereich der Verkehrsinsel. Öffentliche WC-Anlagen,
Ticket- und Ser vice schalter sind in gläsernen Zylindern untergebracht, deren großzügige
Betondach- Kon struktionen überdachte U-Bahnzugänge und Außenräume ausbilden.
Mehrere Licht säulen bieten mit umlaufenden Bänken Sitzgelegenheiten und sorgen ne -
ben den Pavillonbauten für eine allgemeine Be leuchtung des Platzes. Neun abgesenkte

through it underground every day. Above ground, another 250,000 passengers,
approximately 20,000 cyclists and various bus lines of local and long-distance traffic
meet every day. To turn this highly dynamic but also confusing place into a function-
ing, urban space, for designing their station the planners from COBE and Gottlieb
Paludan Architects started by analysing in detail the flow of the numerous users. This
served as the basis for the dimensions, the positioning and the forms of all the com-
ponents of the new station forecourt and the new buildings standing on it. As a con-
sequence, an extensive pavilion structure was designed with allows pedestrians and
cyclists to pass by without barriers and thresholds. Instead of a platform, now a bar-
rier-free change of the floor covering marks the area of the traffic isles. Public toilet
facilities, ticket- and service counters are in glass cylinders whose generous concrete
roof constructions form covered access to the underground as well as sheltered out-
side areas. Several light columns with benches around them offer seating and supply
general lighting to the square in addition to the pavilion buildings. Nine lowered
areas furthermore provide parking spaces for a total of 2,500 bicycles.
