                                                                             tigt sich mit einer mobilen Unterbringung für Obdachlose. Das Konzept „Home Street

                                                                             die Konstruktion nicht allzu schwer sein und somit einfach im Alltag manövriert werden
                                                                             können. So sind wertvolle Beiträge für unsere Mitmenschen entstanden, die aufgrund
                                                                             ihrer finanziellen oder persönlichen Not keinen passenden Wohn- oder Schlafort finden
                                                                             können.  Die  Entwürfe  zeigen,  dass  auf  extrem  geringem  Lebensraum  ein  Zuhause
                                                                             geschaffen  werden  kann,  das  alle  benötigten  Grundbedürfnisse  erfüllt.  In  Zeiten  von
                                                                             Klimawandel und Umweltverschmutzung sollten wir alle wieder größeren Wert auf den
                                                                             Aspekt der Nachhaltigkeit legen, um die Umwelt zu schonen und den Überschuss an be -
                                                                             reits vorhandenen Ressourcen sinnvoll zu verwenden.

                                                                             A  t the beginning of the summer term of 2017, the following task was formulated at
                                                                                Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences: to design simple and mobile accommoda-
                                                                             tion for persons in need, homeless people, working nomads and students. The designs
                                                                             were to focus on the quality of living and to show how rooms with ample functionality
                                                                             can be produced. It was self-evident that the various groups of users had to be analysed
                                                                             first. We were interested in how it happens that people suffer hardship and to what extent
                                                                             they are supported by the welfare net. In addition, we wanted to know how the building
                                                                             authority faces the situation with regard to small mobile constructions. From this knowl-
                                                                             edge pool, highly differentiated and varied solution approaches have now resulted. The

                                                                             sleep. Like in a tent, the side walls of the trailer can be individually opened. The reclining
                                                                             surface thus serves as seating at the same time. Stability is ensured with fold-out legs. This
                                                                             allows the cyclist to participate in bicycle tours when the supports are not used. The Lay
                                                                             Down concept was developed for students, pupils and trainees who are looking for a rea-
                                                                             sonable accommodation close to the educational facilities in a new city. Several modules
                                                                             stacked on top of each other are standing on an unused meadow close to Rosenheim
                                                                             University of Applied Sciences. The curved arrangement of the modules produces an in-
                                                                             between area which can be jointly used, where one can meet or relax in a hammock. A
                                                                             module consists of two residential units and a sanitary cell in the middle. The inside floor
                                                                             area of a residential unit measures merely 4.4 square metres with an above-average room
                                                                             height of 3.3 metres. The height is necessary to allow for a second level for the sleeping
                                                                             area in the residential units. The sanitary cell’s height of 2.5 metres is furthermore used
                                                                             as a rainwater storage tank for flushing the toilet. In the living room there is a small kitchen
                                                                             unit, a sleeping area and storage space. The small floor area requires specific furniture
                                                                             with several functions. Attention was paid to the use of resource-saving and recyclable
                                                                             materials inside and outside. The (L)oftmals concept is a solution for people who arrive in
                                                                             a new and unfamiliar city and are looking for accommodation there. With this concept, a
                                                                             kind of long-term hostel is to be provided into which one can book by phone or online.
                                                                             For the desired duration, one moves into a module which has been designed to be space-
                                                                             saving and which meets many needs thanks to its high functionality. There is a bed at a
                                                                             height of two metres, a cupboard and a shelf unit which in turn contains a fold-out guest

                                                                             find room in vacant warehouses or office buildings. The already existing toilets, showers
                                                                             and kitchens there are used as common rooms. This encourages contact with people and
                                                                             offers newcomers a good base for finding their bearings in the new surroundings and for
                                                                             integrating. A further design focuses on mobile accommodation for the homeless. The
                                                                             Home Street Home concept has been developed to make difficult everyday life easier for
                                                                             the homeless. The foundation of the design is a shopping cart into which space for sleep-
                                                                             ing, storage room for one’s belongings, a canister for sufficient water supply and a small
                                                                             cooker have been integrated. Despite all this, due to its construction the cart should not
                                                                             be too heavy and thus easy to manoeuver in daily life. Valuable contributions have thus
                                                                             been generated for our fellow human beings who, due to their financial or personal dis-
                                                                             tress, cannot find a suitable place for living or sleeping. The designs show that a home can
                                                                             be created in an extremely small living space, a home able to meet all the necessary
                                                                             needs. In times of climate change and environmental pollution, we should all attach more
                                                                             importance again to the aspect of sustainability in order to protect the environment and
                                                                             to sensibly use the surplus of the already existing resources.
