Licht, Luft, Sonne und Natur wünschte sich Charlotte Schminke – Hans Scharoun plante einen Wintergarten mit Lichthimmel. • Light, air, sun, nature is what Charlotte Schminke wished for – Scharoun built a wintergarden for her.

Haus Schminke ist eines von weltweit vier herausragenden Beispie-
len der Stilrichtungen Neues Bauen und International Style. Es reiht
sich in der Bedeutung neben Mies van der Rohes Haus Tugendhat in
Brünn, Le Corbusiers Villa Savoye in Poissy bei Paris und Frank Lloyd
Wrights Haus Kaufmann Fallingwater in Mill Run, Pennsylvania, ein –
Häuser, die exakt auf die Bedürfnisse ihrer Bauherren zugeschnitten
wurden und die umgebende Natur auf eindrucksvolle Weise einbe-
ziehen. Heute kann es jeder für ein Wochenende in Löbau mieten.

The Schminke House is one of four outstanding examples of the
Neues Bauen and the International Style movements worldwide. It
ranks in importance alongside Mies van der Rohe’s Villa Tugendhat
