Unterirdische Architektur mit überirdischen Qualitäten! Das Durlacher
Tor in Karlsruhe sowie die Museumsinsel und das Rote Rathaus in
Berlin erhielten jüngst neue U-Bahn-Stationen. Von dinghafter Insze-
nierung des Kunstlichts, das den Innenraum taghell erleuchtet, bis hin
zum nachtdunklen Firmament, das ihm eine abstrakte Tiefe schenkt.
Entwürfe wie Tag und Nacht also, die dem Fehlen natürlichen Lichts
ganz unterschiedliche Lösungen entgegensetzen und mit ihrer gestal-
tungsprägenden Beleuchtung aus der Not eine Tugend machen.

Underground architecture with celestial qualities! The Durlacher Tor
in Karlsruhe as well as the Museum Island and the Red Town Hall in
Berlin have new underground stations. From the tangible staging of
the artificial light which illuminates the interior bright as day to the
nocturnal dark firmament, which gives it an abstract depth. Designs
like day and night, so to speak, which compensate for the lack of Fotos: Brigida González
natural light and make a virtue of necessity with their lighting. 2
