2. Preis: Das Haus der Architektur setzt einen klaren, reduzierten Schlusspunkt der
Kulturmeile. Es ist nicht nur ein Museum, sondern eine Hommage an die reine
Form und die Klarheit des Raums. Architektur wird hier nicht nur ausgestellt, sie wird
erlebt! Die Ausstellung verzichtet auf Überladung. Wenige, wohlplatzierte Exponate
bestimmen den Raum. Das große Stadtmodell – Essenz der gebauten Stadt – bildet das
Highlight. Das Café öffnet sich zur Terrasse. Glas, Stahl, Beton – eine klare Komposition.
Der Blick schweift in den Skulpturengarten, der Teil der Architektur wird. Licht und
Schatten, Material und Natur treten in Dialog. Der Raum bleibt offen, flexibel, anpass-
bar. Die Werkstatt ist ein funktionaler Raum. Hier wird gearbeitet, entworfen, gefertigt.
Angrenzend das Archiv – eine stille Ordnung für das Bewahren. Im oberen Geschoss
liegt das Büro. Der Direktor lebt im Haus – in einer lichtdurchfluteten Wohnung, offen
und strukturiert, frei von Überfluss. Im Erdgeschoss findet sich Raum für Bewegung, für
die Jugend. Ein klar definierter Hof – ein Basketballcourt, ein Ort der Aktivität. mmb

2. Prize: The Haus der Architektur provides a clear, minimalist end point to the cul-
tural mile. It is not just a museum, but a homage to pure form and the clarity of
space. Architecture is not only exhibited here, it can actually be experienced! The exhibi-
tion avoids overload. A few well-placed exhibits define the space. The large city model
– the essence of the built city – is the highlight. The café opens onto the terrace. Glass,
steel, concrete – a clear composition. The view wanders to the sculpture garden, which
becomes part of the architecture. Light and shadow, material and nature enter into dia-
logue. The space remains open, flexible, adaptable. The workshop is a functional space.
This is where work is done, designs are created, and products are manufactured. Adja-
cent to it is the archive – a quiet place for preservation. The office is located on the upper
floor. The director lives in the building – in a light-flooded apartment that is open and Schnitt • Section
structured as well as being free of excess. The ground floor offers space for movement, for
young people. A clearly defined courtyard – a basketball court, a place of activity. mmb
Jury verdict: “The design shows a skilfully ironic engagement with the former architec-
tural icons, which – after all – leads to appropriate and playfully well-designed spaces
for an architecture centre.”
